CareerBuilder interviews Dr. Ken Gilbert and a student about the value of our internship program

The faculty and students in our department understand the value of an internship. As mentioned in a previous article, many of our students return for their last semester with job offers from the company where they interned.

Many of the companies that recruit from us will only consider students with a relevant internship. Because of the high value associated with internships, we begin working with students on resumes before they even arrive on campus. Once on campus, we have faculty and staff who work with the students and companies to ensure all our students get placed in high quality internships.

CareerBuilder's site recently wrote an article called The Value of Internships for Students. In this article, they interview Dr. Ken Gilbert and one of our 2nd year students. They asked 2nd year student, Haley Hubbard "What did you learn from the internship program at UT?" She said "I learned through this experience that I had a lot to learn and, yet, a lot to offer. The education I am receiving at UT has helped me develop a fresh perspective that was well received in the field."
