Mr. Hoffman earned his B.S. in Physics from Notre Dame, and later an M.B.A. from the same institution.  Most of his career has been spent in the medical device industry.  Early in his career he was a software and systems engineer for GE Medical Systems and contributed to the design and development of several Computed Tomography (CT) scanners.  Later he moved into technical management and joined CTI in Knoxville, Tennessee.  At CTI he was a software manager, Director of Quality and Regulatory Affairs, and Director of the Radioactive Calibration Sources Business.

After leaving CTI in 2002 he became a consultant, specializing in assisting firms struggling to comply with FDA regulations.  He teaches Business Strategy and Policy (MGT 401).
