Dr. Mackey received a Ph.D. in Human Resource Development from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Her research and service interests are in the areas of human resource management and the placement of interns and graduates. She has built an internship program over the last 10 years that has grown locally and in the region. The student needs assistance in making career decisions and making the transition from the classroom to the corporate world. Dr. Mackey assists the student in finding an internship to gain the business knowledge needed to succeed. She is also faculty advisor for UT-SHRM, Society of Human Resource Management. The student organization provides activities and opportunities for the student to grow in the knowledge and experience in Human Resources.
