Dr. Arnold received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota and joined UT's Philosophy Department in 2003. He serves as Director of Graduate Studies in the Philosophy Department and Director of UT’s Center for Applied and Professional Ethics (CAPE). Dr. Arnold teachs the core ethics unit in the MBA program. Dr. Arnold's research interests include the following: Issues in the ethics of global capitalism such as labor practices; environmental practices; pharmaceutical marketing and pricing; and the power of multinational corporations. Key concepts in social, political, and moral philosophy such as autonomy; coercion; exploitation; moral alienation; respect for persons; and human rights. Ethical issues concerning the allocation of health care resources such as rationing; cost in relation to value; and the role of the market.
