VITA

 

Dr. Harrell joined the finance faculty at the University of Tennessee in August 1990.  She teaches at all academic levels (undergraduate, masters, and doctoral), and regularly teaches in the CBA professional graduate program.  For several years she taught in the CBA executive graduate program in Taiwan.  She is faculty advisor for two student managed, real money, investment funds--the Haslam and LaPorte Torch Funds.  She has been the finalist or recipient of numerous awards for excellence in teaching and research.

In 2008, Dr. Harrell was named the College of Business Administration Investments Professor. She has published numerous articles that have appeared in journals such as the Journal of Financial and Quantitative Analysis , Journal for Portfolio Management, Financial Analysts Journal, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, Family Business Review, and Journal of Business Ethics.  Her research is cited by Ibbotson and Associates.

Deborah received her Ph.D. in Finance from The University of Florida, Gainesville, and worked in the banking, legal, and utility industries for more than ten years prior to entering academia. Her research interests include the areas of investments, corporate misconduct, and business ethics.  (For more information please click on her vita above.)
