ILC/CFA Research Challenge

What is the CFA Institute Global Investment Research Challenge?

A Unique opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students:
Finance students who participate interact with investment professionals and top firms while getting real-world experience and mentoring. Selection as a team member and participation in the challenge is an accomplishment that will enhance a student's resume. The global team winners also gain a significant grant for their university.  This challenge gathers students, investment industry professionals, publicly traded companies, and corporate sponsors together locally, regionally, and globally for a real world competition.

Real-world training in equity analysis and research report writing:
The CFA Society of Nashville hosts the challenge, which includes local universities (Vanderbilt, Middle Tennessee State, Belmont), as well as teams from other schools in the region. The universities assemble teams of up to five students; the teams research a designated publicly traded company, prepare a written report on that select company, and then present their findings to a panel of judges. The teams’ final presentations are locally evaluated by high-profile panels of heads of research, portfolio managers, and chief investment officers from the world’s top firms. Winners from the local competition then advance to regional competitions in the Americas, Asia, and Europe, and then to the global finale.
